Rose Mashek

Rose Marie Mashek, 54, died unexpectedly at her home in Charlotte, NC on November 15, 2016.

The youngest of eight children, Rose was born on June 21, 1962 to Edward Daniel and RIta McGrane Mashek in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

She attended Holy Rosay Elementary School, St. Edmond's High School, and Iowa Central Community College.  Rose graduated from Iowa State University in May 1984 with a degree in Finance.

After college, Rose started her banking career in Fort Dodge, Iowa followed by moves to Des Moines, Iowa and Dallas, Texas, until finally settling in Charlotte, North Carolina.  She was a VIce President at Bank of America. Rose will be remembered for her intelligence, efficiency, and integrity.

Rose is survived by her siblings, Joe (Rosanne), Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Vicki (Dave) Bailey, Dallas, Oregon; Mike (Linda), Temecula, California; Rick (Mary), Olathe, Kansas; Kathy (Bruce) Moore, Iowa Falls, Iowa; and sister-in-law Darlene Mashek, West Des Moines, Iowa.  She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Rita, and her older brothers David and Patrick.

"Aunt Rosie" was dearly beloved by her many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, for her kindness and her sense of humor.  She attended countless band concerts and ballet recitals over the years, along with baptisms, graduations, and weddings.  She was extremely generous and gave the BEST Christmas presents!  The Mashek Family Christmas will never be the same without her deliciouis baked goods.

Rose enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Europe and Africa in recent years, and she was also a prolific sender and receiver of postcards, which she proudly hung in her office.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed many fun summers at the Mashek Family Cabin at Battle Lake, Minnesota.  A favorite memory occurred in June 2012, when the extended Mashek Family gathered in the Outer Banks of North Carolina to celebrate Rose's 50th birthday.

Rose will also be remembered for her amazing and extensive collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia!  Many fun parties (and pictures!) occurred in the Shrine.

Rose touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and she will be forever missed.

A private family service will be planned at a later date.

A scholarship fund will be established in Rose's name.  Memorials may be sent to her sister, Kathy Moore, for the scholarshipo, or to the charity of your choice.
